Picture books loved by wonderers
We forget our baby's birthday ... Willow the Wonderer turned two in June! Hard to believe that two years have flown by since we held the first hardcopy of Willow the Wonderer in our hands - and posed for this daggy photo to mark the occasion... I think this was the 'high-point' of our COVID fashion! Darren and Reeta holding their first Willow the Wonderer picture book! Willow the Wonderer picture books have since found their way to homes all across Australia . It's been wond

Because every book has a song ...
It's a momentous day: Darren has started working on the very last spread for the third Willow the Wonderer picture book. The end is in sight! The picture book creation process Developing each picture book is easily six months of full time effort, involving writing, editing, book design, illustrating , typesetting, and then finally getting everything together for print production. So when we reach milestones like this, it is very much a cause for celebration! (And in case any

Thank you. Your support has meant more than you know
As yet another year draws to an end, we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone in our community : Our customers, booksellers, buyers, editors, printers, teachers, industry affiliates, colleagues, friends and family. A heartfelt thanks for all your support over the past two years, as we embarked on a whole new (ad)venture to create beautiful stories that plant seeds of wisdom; seeds that we hope will blossom with time and guide our young readers in their journey

We promoted our new picture books and did a 'van life' tour of Australia at the same time
After months of searching we finally took the leap last October and bought a van! The plan was to embark on a series of book tours around Australia to meet some hardy booksellers and learn the book trade, whilst promoting our new picture book series, Willow the Wonderer . The trip soon morphed into a fantastic lifestyle where we not only got to connect with great local businesses but also get a taste of a free bohemian lifestyle of yester years. We had not even converted our

Willow the Wonderer rubs shoulders with Australia's literati
The festivals are back and last weekend we welcomed the return of Bellingen Readers & Writers festival in the Mid North Coast of NSW. What a lineup: From Thomas Keneally to Peter Carey, David Williamson, Bryan Brown, Kevin Rudd, Dick Smith, Fran Kelly, Jane Caro, Norman Swan, Professor Doherty, Costa ... the list goes on. Amongst all the literati of Australia, Darren and I found ourselves running a midday session on our debut picture book Willow the Wonderer - We may very wel

Early Childhood Learning Hub: Explore Creative Writing
Teachers and early childhood educators who have recently bought our Willow the Wonderer picture books are telling us they love using it in class! Encouraged by their feedback we are developing a series of teaching guides to accompany the books. These will cover the basics like developing literacy and numeracy skills to more advanced subjects such as creative writing, art, folk literature, poetic rhythm and meter, and of course explore the philosophy and wisdom of happiness.

Our first trade show promoting Willow the Wonder picture books - what we learnt and what we loved
After two long years, Australia recently had it's first trade show - AGHA's Sydney Gift Fair - and we were there for it! It was our first retail trade show and boy, did we learn a lot. It was wonderful to get the product validation we had gone looking for - but the unexpected love from strangers was what really bowled us over! And yes, we also made some rather costly rookie mistakes... Here's a download of all that we learnt and loved. The preparation Trade shows are a costl
